Last weekend, I was jogging along, listening to a podcast about the mob’s control of Las Vegas back in the 1970s when I had an epiphany about Florida politics in 2021.
The series by the Las Vegas Review-Journal does a splendid job detailing the mob’s corrupt reign. But what stopped me in my sweaty tracks was a segment on what it took for Vegas to end that corruption.
A few brave politicians from both parties — including a Republican governor and Democratic head of the state’s gaming commission — joined forces to say: No more.
