Jailed: Gilliams, Parris join ‘Banty Rooster,’ one other in rare sunshine cases

They appear to be the only Florida public officials ever put behind bars for violating Florida’s sunshine laws, which ensure the government’s business is done in public.

Last week Circuit Judge Mike Linn jailed Gilliams and Parris, two of three Sebastian City Council members recalled in 2020 less than a year after they were elected, in connection with open meetings and perjury violations.
