Readers wanting to find hard-number, factual information about the COVID-19 pandemic will notice that newspaper accounts usually quote statistics from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and hospital chains. Sometimes Johns Hopkins University.

The Florida Department of Health? Not as much. The state stopped providing daily, county-by-county COVID-19 case statistics last June.
